As an anesthesiologist, I rarely have an ongoing office relationship with patients, so I was genuinely confused to see a detailed one star review about "office visits" and "follow up appointments" I simply do not conduct.
It was clearly meant for a different physician, almost certainly one in a clinic setting, but explaining publicly that "this is not even my role" risks implying a patient encounter I am not permitted to confirm, so even the obvious defense is closed to me.
The rating still lowers my average and shows up when hospitals, groups, or curious patients look me up. There is something almost absurd about being rated poorly for a job you do not do, in a setting you are never in.
I submitted the mismatch, pointing out that my practice does not involve the kind of appointments described, and received the standard non-response from Google. It made me newly aware of how little control any of us has over what attaches to our names online.
