Pay us and the bad review disappears

This account was submitted by a healthcare provider and de-identified before publication. Details that could identify a patient or practice have been removed, and it is shared with the provider’s consent.

What was posted

It started with a single one star review that contained no actual detail, just a low rating and a vague "would not recommend." A day later I received a direct message offering to "help clean up" my online reputation and take the review down for a monthly fee.

What actually happened

When I ignored it, two more thin negative reviews appeared over the following week, each just specific enough to seem plausible and just vague enough to be unprovable. It felt exactly like a shakedown.

Impact

The pressure was effective, because in a field where patients comparison shop by star rating, even a small dip costs real bookings. For weeks I felt a low hum of anxiety every time a new review notification arrived.

Steps taken

Reported individually, each one looked to Google like an ordinary difference of opinion, so nothing happened. I eventually hired a reputation management service, which is to say I paid money to undo damage I never should have faced, a quiet form of paying the ransom.
