A family posted a review, amplified by an unvetted news story, making numerous claims against the doctor. Almost every claim was inaccurate; some so grossly so that video evidence completely refutes it.
The matter went through a full police investigation and two attempts to sue, and the doctor was found completely without fault in all of them, supported by expert reviews from multiple pediatric dentists. Her malpractice insurer committed its full resources to the defense given the evidence in discovery. On the day the family was notified that their latest baseless suit could not proceed — at the very end of the statute of limitations — they took it to the news and posted the review. Her license remains in perfect standing
Over roughly two years the doctor was subjected to abusive, deceitful claims she was helpless to answer because of HIPAA. She nearly left pediatric dentistry several times and would have sold the practice had her staff not creatively kept her off the schedule as long as possible — which itself hurt the practice financially and reputationally, as devoted patients couldn't be seen by her. Emotionally, physically, and financially devastating.
