What actually happened

The patient opened a CareCredit account in January. Months later she and her boyfriend came in claiming she had never signed or approved it, even though we have proper documentation and front-desk staff watched her sign it of her own free will. The boyfriend didn't want her opening another credit card, so they left the negative review and threatened to report us to the state dental board.

Impact

Reputational, and frustrating to deal with — we pride ourselves on treating patients with care and respect, and this doesn't reflect that.

Steps taken

We refunded their money, but the review is still there, and we can't fully respond because of HIPAA.
