A stranger's procedure at another office, posted under my name

This account was submitted by a healthcare provider and de-identified before publication. Details that could identify a patient or practice have been removed, and it is shared with the provider’s consent.

What was posted

The review described a colonoscopy and a follow up at a location that is not mine, written by someone who had clearly confused me with another gastroenterologist who shares my last name across the city.

What actually happened

The one star rating still landed on my profile and dragged down an average I had built carefully over years. So my name now carries a stranger's frustrating morning at a different office that I have no connection to.

Impact

I asked my front desk to keep an eye out for confused callers, and sure enough one prospective patient mentioned the review before booking. It is a slow, quiet erosion, one lost appointment at a time, over a mix-up that a human reviewer could resolve in thirty seconds.

Steps taken

I submitted the obvious discrepancy to Google, noting the wrong address and the other physician's practice, and they declined to referee what they called a factual disagreement. The system simply has no place for "you have the wrong doctor."
