A relative who admitted they never met me wrote my worst review

This account was submitted by a healthcare provider and de-identified before publication. Details that could identify a patient or practice have been removed, and it is shared with the provider’s consent.

What was posted

The reviewer opened by admitting, in their own words, that they were "writing this for" a relative and had "never personally met this doctor," then made sweeping claims about my judgment during a delivery.

What actually happened

The account was secondhand at best and left out everything I am not permitted to explain in public. Obstetrics is intensely personal, and prospective patients often choose based on exactly these reviews, so a dramatic post like this carries real weight.

Impact

The post remained the second thing a patient saw when they searched my name, and I watched my new obstetric intakes soften over the following quarter. I could not say with certainty how much of it traced back to that one review, which is its own kind of torment.

Steps taken

I consulted an attorney, hoping there was a clean way to respond, and she confirmed that any substantive reply risked disclosing protected health information. So I paid for a legal consultation only to be told, in effect, to stay silent.
