One star for the waiting room music and an expired coupon

What was posted

A one star review complained about our neighborhood, the "cold" waiting room music, and a coupon that had expired before the patient tried to use it, with nothing at all about the dental care itself.

What actually happened

The cleaning and exam had gone smoothly, and there was no clinical concern anywhere in the post. It is a peculiar frustration to have my professional rating driven by ambiance and a marketing promotion rather than by dentistry.

Impact

Yelp kept it prominently displayed while its filter pushed several genuine reviews from real, long term patients into the hidden "not recommended" section. My team has developed a dark sense of humor about the music complaint, but early on it genuinely bothered me to watch real patients' words disappear beneath a note about a coupon.

Steps taken

I flagged it as off topic, and Yelp's position was essentially that a customer's overall impression counts, even when it has nothing to do with the service. There is no path to have it recategorized and no clinical issue to fix.
