Falsely accused of ignoring test results, with no way to answer

This account was submitted by a healthcare provider and de-identified before publication. Details that could identify a patient or practice have been removed, and it is shared with the provider’s consent.

What was posted

A review asserted as fact that I had "ignored the test results" and "sent them home to get worse," a specific and false clinical claim rather than a matter of opinion.

What actually happened

I know the actual sequence of that care and the reasoning behind every step, but explaining it publicly would disclose the patient's protected information, so I cannot. The gap between what I could say privately and what I could say publicly has never felt wider.

Impact

In the days after it posted, my practice manager fielded several calls from worried patients who had read it and wanted reassurance, which pulled staff time away from actual care. Having my clinical judgment publicly and falsely attacked, with no permissible reply, is genuinely demoralizing.

Steps taken

I consulted an attorney, who confirmed the familiar trap: pursuing the reviewer would likely cost more than it could ever recover and might force disclosures I am bound to protect. So the false statement stands as the loudest line on my profile.
